Beacon Pulse ("we", "us") provides software that helps medical practitioners record consultations and generate clinical documentation. This policy explains how we handle personal and health information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
What we collect
Practice account details (name, email, HPCSA number, contact details), patient records entered by the practitioner (name, contact details, medical history, vitals, consultation recordings and transcripts), and usage data needed to operate the service.
How we use it
Patient and consultation data is used solely to generate clinical notes, prescriptions, and related documents for the practitioner who entered it. We do not sell patient data, and we do not use it to train AI models beyond the individual request that generates that document.
Where it's stored
Data is stored with our infrastructure providers (including Supabase) using access controls that restrict each practice's data to that practice's own account and any staff they've explicitly invited.
Patient rights
A patient may request a copy of their data or request its deletion at any time. The practitioner using Beacon Pulse can fulfil these requests directly from the patient's file (Export Data / Delete Record).
Third-party services
We use Anthropic's Claude API to generate clinical text from consultation transcripts, and PayFast to process subscription payments. These providers process data only as needed to deliver their specific function.
